A Day Of Dishonest Claims From James
October 10, 2018
In an interview with Tom Beres yesterday, Congressman Jim Renacci lied and made strange claims about everything from healthcare to the pin Senator Sherrod Brown wears on his lapel.
Take a look at his comments, which are sure to make your head spin.
What Renacci Said: “But I think we need to make sure that we’re protecting pre-existing conditions, I’ve said that…I think we should make sure that we are protecting the elimination of caps and I think we should also allow parents to keep their children on to age 26…”
The Reality: Congressman Renacci has voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act — which provides protections for those with pre-existing conditions and allows individuals to stay on their parents’ health insurance until age 26 — at least seventeen times. He’s also voted to block amendments that would specifically protect those two aspects of the ACA.
What Renacci Said: “When Democrats were in charge, they were spending like drunken sailors…”
The Reality: Congressman Renacci joined his fellow Republicans to pass a tax bill that blew a $1.5 trillion hole in the deficit, which continues to grow under GOP control.
What Renacci Said: “Sherrod Brown wears the parrot on his lapel.”
The Reality: It’s a canary, but it’s understandable that Congressman Renacci would get confused. You know that old saying, “a parrot in a coal mine.” 🤔
What Renacci Said: “I’m not in politics enough to know that…”
The Reality: Congressman Renacci has served in Washington for nearly a decade, and has been in politics since 1999.
What Renacci Said: “Look, I have been on the campaign for the last 7 months. I haven’t had time to really look into the details of this…”
The Reality: Here, Congressman Renacci admits he’s been too busy campaigning to look into something impacting the city of Cleveland. This isn’t too surprising from someone who missed more votes than any other member of Ohio’s congressional delegation last year.
What Renacci Said: When asked about getting on MSNBC and CNN, Renacci told Beres, “We’ve called, and we’ve asked to get on, and we don’t get on.”
The Reality: Poor Jim Renacci. Even cable news shows don’t want him.
What Renacci Said: “I think there was a commercial out there, where President Trump back in February or March of this year said Renacci we need you to get in, get in, fight.”
The Reality: The ad Renacci “thinks” he saw was actually his own ad he ran in the primary.
